That's exactly what we tested and debated today in class. Our class traveled to the Staff Room to do a blind taste test with strawberries, raspberries and bananas.
Here are the results:
Strawberries: The class preferred the taste of the non-organic.
Raspberries: The class preferred the taste of the organic.
Bananas: The class preferred the taste of the organic.
During our debate, I had the students envision their life 20 years from now, with a University or College education, a good job and just moving out of the house for the first time and $100 to buy groceries. What kinds of fruit and vegetables would they buy, organic or non-organic?
Students aligned themselves with others who had the same thinking and the debate ensued with some great critical thinking. Even though this was a hotly debated topic, our students were respectful and patient with each other. A great experiential lesson today.
Great work Grade 3's!
